The Ask

Cox Business looked to create an unconventional showcase of smart technology for government, business, and education leaders in Omaha, Nebraska. The company needed to creatively communicate the benefits of investing in smarter technology for municipalities and businesses with large footprints or multiple locations, as they looked to build ‘Smart Omaha’ for improved economic development, safety, efficiency, sustainability, and quality of life.

The Solution

WITS conceptualized, branded, developed, and executed SmartBiz Omaha, a highly immersive, one-day, high-profile event to place some of the most advanced technologies into the hands of Omaha’s top decision-makers.

Anchored on an experiential open house and media event with the Omaha Governor, guests explored five interactive hubs: Connected Healthcare, Connected Education, Connected Retail, Connected Workplace, and Connected City. Guests could see, touch, and feel the future of Silicon Prairie.

The event created an instant “a-ha” moment to wow them and demonstrate how multiple industries, through smart applications and sensors, contribute to an overall smarter ecosystem that benefits citizens.

Everyday scenarios became connected, or ‘smarter’, simplifying the complexity of a Smart City concept via an AR experience.

Through this event, more than 100 state and local government leaders, including the Omaha Governor, seven media outlets, and 50+ publications helped to expand SmartBiz events. Smart City AR immersion is now used in municipal sales meetings throughout the country.
