Early Inspiration

The spirit of WITS can be traced to 1947. That’s when Phil Erickson partnered with Dick Van Dyke, then a local DJ, to form the “Merry Mutes,” a traveling comedy duo. During the early 1950s, they found success in Atlanta, Georgia where they performed original skits and music on a live, local NBC TV show.

The Original Wits’ End

By the mid-1950s, they each decided to chase their dreams, so Dick headed north to New York City and Phil opened WITS, Atlanta’s first cabaret dinner theater, and formed the Wits’ End Players. A roaring success, the group entertained U.S. Presidents, received a key to Atlanta and had the entire city singing Tearin’ up Peachtree.

Lights, Camera, Action

Inspired by their parents Phil and Nancy, Steve and Jamey Erickson charted their own path by launching a corporate video production firm aptly named Wits' End Productions in 1987. Because entertainment was in their DNA, they knew how to engage live audiences, and Wits' End Productions quickly expanded to offer live show production, corporate meetings and events, and live trade show marketing services.
